Just like transformations in the base game of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, unlocking the Super Saiyan form for Trunks in DLC 3 is dependent on story progression. For the most part, players should probably already have a general idea of what happens in the story of this DLC since Trunks touches on it during the Cell Saga of the main game, however.
There will be minor spoilers ahead for the third and final DLC of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot. Players that are just dying to use the Super Saiyan transformation again for its incredible power boost need not worry, as the form can be unlocked for this version of Trunks.
A major emphasis in the story of this DLC is about Trunks trying to unlock the power of a Super Saiyan, but he struggles with it in ways that his main timeline counterpart never did.
This time he isn't a sword wielding, Super Saiyan fighter, but instead just a teenager training with Future Gohan. At the very beginning of DLC 3 for Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, players will take control of Future Trunks.
